Shoprite’s sales from continuing operations rose 6.4% in the four months to October 2026, compared with the same period a year earlier, the retailer said in a 6 November stock-exchange announcement.

Its South African supermarket division grew sales 7.1%, with internal selling-price inflation of 0.7%. Sales through its on-demand delivery platform Sixty60 increased 33.4%.

Outside South Africa, supermarket sales rose 7% in rand terms and 4.3% at constant exchange rates. Other operating segments recorded a 1.5% decline after a previously disclosed franchise termination led to 51 store closures.

The group added a net 71 stores during the period. South African supermarkets accounted for a net 61, comprising 71 openings and ten closures.

Shoprite extended this update from three months to four to provide more current figures ahead of investor engagements. The information has not been reviewed or reported on by its external auditors.
