Dodoma, Tanzania, Tanzania will host the eLearning Africa Conference in May 2025, bringing together over 50 ministers from 49 African countries and delegates from more than 65 nations worldwide. The announcement was made by the Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Adolf Mkenda, during a press briefing in Dodoma.
This will be the second time Tanzania hosts the continent’s leading conference on digital education and learning technologies. The country first hosted the event in 2011. Prof. Mkenda attributed this year’s opportunity to Tanzania’s growing international presence and the proactive diplomacy of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, who officially approved the hosting.
Prof. Mkenda emphasized that the forum presents a major opportunity for Tanzania to engage with global education leaders, investors, and innovators in the technology sector. He stated that eLearning Africa will not only elevate Tanzania’s profile as a hub for digital education, but also open up strategic opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and investment in the country’s growing tech ecosystem.
The event is expected to attract a wide range of stakeholders including policy makers, education specialists, technologists, researchers, entrepreneurs, investors, and development partners. Participants will share strategies, exchange knowledge, and explore practical solutions to expand the use of digital tools in education and skills development across the continent.
Prof. Mkenda said Tanzania stands to benefit from exposure to new methods of integrating digital technology in classrooms and training centers. He also highlighted the potential to draw interest from regional and global tech companies to invest in local innovation and youth-driven entrepreneurship.
The 2025 conference will run under the theme “Re-imagining Education and Human Capital Development for Africa’s Future Prosperity.” This year’s theme aims to focus discussions on aligning education systems with Africa’s broader development agenda, leveraging digital tools to build a skilled, future-ready workforce.
