The African Development Bank has approved a €100 million loan to Morocco in support of its inclusive and solidarity-based agriculture program. This initiative aims to generate opportunities for women and youth while promoting climate-resilient farming. The program aligns with Morocco’s Green Generation 2020-2030 strategy and broader national goals.

With a strong focus on gender inclusion, the program aims to anchor women in agricultural value chains by strengthening their skills and providing technical and financial support. The new infrastructure will support both production and services, encouraging the development of women-led enterprises in agro-processing and digital agriculture.

This loan will also empower young entrepreneurs through tailored financial mechanisms and enhanced support systems. The overarching goal is to transform Morocco’s agricultural landscape into one that is resilient, innovative, and capable of withstanding climate risks.

AfDB Country Manager Achraf Tarsim emphasized the Bank’s commitment to ensuring women become central figures in modern farming. Through this operation, the Bank seeks to build a resilient agricultural ecosystem that provides value and employment for local communities.

Over the years, the African Development Bank has invested nearly €15 billion in Morocco, covering more than 150 transformative projects across multiple sectors. This latest initiative further reinforces the Bank’s long-term partnership with Morocco and its commitment to inclusive growth.
