The President of the African Development Bank Group, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, has conveyed deep condolences to the Government and people of Ghana following a tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight individuals, including Defence Minister Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed. Describing the incident as devastating and a national tragedy, Dr. Adesina expressed sympathy on behalf of himself, his wife, Grace, and the entire AfDB staff, management, and boards of directors. In his statement, he extended prayers for strength and comfort to President John Mahama, the bereaved families, and all Ghanaians, while calling for peace for the souls of the departed. The crash, which occurred on Wednesday, has sent shockwaves across Ghana and the wider African community, given the prominence of the individuals involved. The loss of two cabinet ministers in a single incident has been viewed as an immense challenge for the government during a period requiring strong leadership.
