Afreximbank Academy has completed the technical integration of the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System gateway into its learning platform. The change creates a route for learners in participating African markets to pay for selected programmes in their local currencies.

The bank announced the development on 23 October in a statement, also distributed through Publicnow. The announcement concerns selected programmes and participating markets, so it should not be read as universal availability across every country or course.

InAfrika’s assessment is that payment access deserves attention alongside the availability of training itself. A learner may find a relevant programme yet still face practical questions about the payment methods supported at checkout.

Prospective participants should therefore confirm whether their market, bank or payment provider and chosen course are eligible. They should also check the final amount payable and any applicable transaction charges before completing payment.

The development provides a specific example of regional payment infrastructure being connected to a service platform. Actual uptake and the experience of participating learners will be useful measures of its practical value.
