DP World reported that its terminal at the Port of Dar es Salaam handled about 63% more container volume in the first ten months of 2026 than in the same period a year earlier. The operator put the January–October total at 418,826 twenty-foot equivalent units, up from 256,328.

The figures came from a 6 November cargo update by the company, reported by The Citizen. A twenty-foot equivalent unit is a standard measure of container capacity. A forty-foot container counts as two units.

The same update put vehicle handling at 271,443 units over the ten months, up from 175,122 in the comparable 2025 period. The company recorded 37,652 roll-on, roll-off units in October, the highest monthly figure it reported in the update.

DP World operates berths 0 to 7 at Terminal 1. Its figures describe the terminal’s activity. The separate Container Terminal 2 operates under a concession held by Adani Ports’ Tanzania business.

DP World began operations in April 2024. In a separate November announcement, it said it planned to add a weekly shipping service connecting Chinese ports with Dar es Salaam and Maputo. The service was scheduled to start later in November, after the period covered by the reported volumes.
