Tanzania has raised its mainland fuel-price caps for November, with petrol in Dar es Salaam increasing to TZS4,083 a litre and diesel to TZS4,128 from 4 November.
The new EWURA schedule took effect at 12:01am on Wednesday. Kerosene in Dar es Salaam is capped at TZS4,117 a litre. The petrol, diesel and kerosene caps are TZS26, TZS42 and TZS50 higher respectively than the October figures of TZS4,057, TZS4,086 and TZS4,067.
EWURA attributed the increases to higher freight and insurance costs linked to continued Middle East tensions. It said international refined-product prices eased slightly in October but remained high, while the additional shipping costs raised import premiums.
Tanga’s retail caps are TZS4,149 for petrol, TZS4,194 for diesel and TZS4,183 for kerosene. Mtwara’s corresponding limits are TZS4,186, TZS4,231 and TZS4,220 a litre.
Prices vary further inland. Arusha’s petrol cap is TZS4,202 a litre, with diesel at TZS4,247 and kerosene at TZS4,236. The full notice lists limits for individual towns and districts across mainland Tanzania.
The published figures are price ceilings. EWURA says suppliers may compete below the caps within the applicable pricing rules, and requires stations to display their prices visibly and issue electronic fiscal pump receipts.
The authority says location-specific cap prices can be checked free of charge by dialling *152*00# and following the prompts. The notice applies to Tanzania Mainland.
